Busy, Gramps in the Hospital, Tv, Cottage, Making Memories and my ROCK aka. James!

Hey there, friends it’s been a while!  Lots going on in my busy little life!

As you know I am a television addict.  I should have prolly called this blog the confessions of a TV addict, however it is what it is.  So the reason I bring this up is that I have recently started watching Animal Planet Canada again, and am so pleasantly surprised with the shows.

First I have discovered Orangutan Island it is about a number of orphaned Orangs who are brought up in a sanctuary as babies and then placed onto an island to start forming bonds with other older Orangs.  I love it.  The expressions and touching the love then gentleness of these beings makes it hard for me to understand how anyone could want to see them anywhere other than in their loving groups and their natural habitats.

Now on Friday nights there is a new spot, 10pm which they fill with a different show ever couple of weeks.  Right now they are running  Pitbulls and Parolees!  It is a beautiful story of a rescue facility that take in mostly Pitties and employees Parolees.  The owner believes if she can give dogs a second chance well then she have to give one to the people in her world too!

Also on Friday night is The Last American Cowboy. Which follows three families in the Montana span who are running honest to goodness cattle ranches.  One still patrols his on horseback the other has so much land he has to patrol it in a helicopter.  However they all fear the worst.  Losing calves.  Did you know that when a Cow is calving they have to use a pulley to get the baby out.  Kinda disturbed me a little.  But I guess that is why I don’t run a ranch!  I don’t know how much I like the premise of this show.  However I like that it does shows some just how hard it is to get that steak to your dinner plate!

On top of this National Geographic Channel Canada has started running new epis of A Dog’s Life!  So I have been filling my time with that.

Not much else I have been watching except Pretty Little Liars!  Which I have been pretty engrossed in.

I am so waiting for my Housewives to come back, NYC, NJ and DC all start in September as does Tori’s third season.

They’ve traded table flipping for the Whitehouse!  LOL!!!!

Well, some of you know that my Grandpa has been in the hospital.  We found out in early July that he had an aneurism in his aorta.  Scary talk!  So he went for some tests and then ended up in the hospital for a week, four blood transfusions, surgery, where we were told he was luckier than a lottery winner to be alive seeing as the aneurism had ruptured and re-sealed itself.  He is now recovering very well, eating broth, jello and doing the things one does when they eat and drink!  He is moving along with no effects at this point and I want to thank all of you for your well wishes and hopes and prayers!

So Summer is officially half over!  Boooo!  No not really I can’t wait for the hot, hot, heat (isn’t that a band or something) to go somewhere else.  I love autumn!  I have a surprise due on Hallowe’en….  Yeah can’t tell you yet!  But the faster it comes the happier I will be!

Want to see the new movie Cats and Dogs the Revenge of Kitty Galore!  May have to go on my own James is nooooottt interested and after making him choose between the wrecking yard and Eclipse…  I don’t think I should push it!

I have to say James has been a rock during all of this Grampa stuff.  On Friday night I finally realized that the surgery on Saturday could have me planning and attending a funeral, I called James and work and started balling so he rushed home and we talked it through and although I was not totally settled it was a help for me!  I so love that I have someone who can deal with my Anxiety!

So in a couple days and I am off to la cottage!  I cannot wait!  I am so excited.  Just we three, my little family.  No one else!  Kitties are getting baby-sat!  I hate leaving them but they don’t do well outside of their home!  Nanny will be taking care of them!

Anyway.  Busy, at work, busy at home, busy TV, busy doggie, busy James, busy kitties.  Haven’t done much else lately.

When back from the cottage will have to start catching up with all the friendly types!  We are missing the Scarborough Rib Fest this year!  Booooooo!  But I would rather wake up to the lovely scenery in the pictures above!  Ahhh, some of my best memories are at the cottage.  Scott and my Dad trying to knock the wasp’s nest down while a little intoxicated after Thanksgiving Dinner.  Hmmmm, Wesley trying to drown me in the lake when I was about six.  Summers spent running free with Wes and Teresa never-changing out of my bathing suit or brushing my hair.  Living on Cheese sandwiches and Pop Shoppe pop while hiking and picking raspberries.  Our parents didn’t know where we were and never cared.

We would walk around to the Marina when Honour and Mike Burke owned it, and swim off the dock while the adults drank “purple milkshakes…”  They would put the juke box on.  Sleepovers at the Calamusa’s cottage!  Man it was a good time!  As my Grandfather gets older I fear the cottage will be sold and I really don’t want someone else living my memories!  They are mine.  As the sign above the oil heater used to say.  “Dis is our place…  De laughing place!”  It is ours…  And man did we laugh in it!  So I am going for a week and we will have our own memories as a family!  Yeah!

See you when I am back!  Bonne Semaine!

Hey I am still here! Sorry for taking so long!

Sometimes life just has a way of jumping up and kicking you in the ass right when you are not expecting it.  I certainly have had my share over the last five years.  Some I can talk about some I cannot, some I wish to talk about some I really wish I could just flippin’ forget.  So suffice it to say that the past couple of weeks have been really well, hard for me!  I have to say that without the listening ears, guidance, advice, hugs, genuine care, worry, non-judgemental ways of my friends I don’t think I would have made it!  I really have realized that I do have a great number of people who for whatever the reason honestly do care for me!  From one person who danced his way into my office every hour on the hour to make me laugh, to another one who walked with me and sat by the secret waterfall and just listened, to the one that got the faited phone call just minutes after I got mine….  I cannot belive the love, support,  just sheer willingness to listen to me when I needed it, to hug me when I needed it.  I thank you all!  I really do.  I just hope I can be there for you when you need it!

By the way we are working it out and as of now things are going well for both of us!  Thanks again to all for everything!

So summer has been and gone!  Wow!  Goes soooo fast now that I am a grown up!  I really don’t remember much of it!  Going to the airshow tomorrow.  The Ex. closes tomorrow.  School starts on Tuesday, well one of my three classes started last Monday, one more starts Next Friday, one more starts on the 16th and the last starts early October.  Then when the one that started first is completed another one starts in December.  Then when all of these are done two more start in January!  Woo Hoo!  I am going to be soooo smart but really tired.

This is on top of me joining the YMCA.  I am really excited.  I have bought work-out clothes, new running shoes, a bathing suit.  I am going to a dance class one night and aquafit two nights and then in between I will just use the gym equipment.  Some days I will go before work and others I will go after!  I did this once before with my friend Jennifer and we had a blast  I lost 65 lbs!  Lets see if I can do it again wish me luck.  Maybe that will be a new feature here.  Counting down as my weight comes off.  I don’t know!  We’ll see.

Everyone is well otherwise.  Happy New School Year,  Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Eid ul-Fitr, Happy Fall, Happy Equinox….

Fall is my favourite of all the seasons, I have never been able to look at it as the end of summer.  To me it has always been a new beginning.  It is when school starts, it is when the harvest starts, the days are shorter and the wind gets crisp.  You are not stiffling from the horrid heat of the summer but yet you are not grabbing at your winter clothes just yet.  The leaves turn beautifully colourful and you just get a little more cozy.  Fires start buring in homes, Thanksgiving is on it’s way, Hallowe’en follows which happens to be my absolute favourite observance and just so happens to be the Pagan New Year!  Maybe this is why I love this season so, maybe this is why I see it as a beginning not an end!  I have always been drawn to the Pagan ways!  Oh but that is another post altogether.  Enjoy Loreena McKennitt, Samhain Night!
